A Birmingham broadcast production company has merged with a national entertainment corporation to become part of an emerging giant in the entertainment world. The resulting combined company went public in July.

Media Works Communications of Birmingham will become the broadcast and media services unit of Infinity Music Corp. (OTC: IFMU), which already has offices in Florida and Nashville. The merger with Media Works is the latest step in Infinity's long-term plan to provide a full range of services.

"Our vision in forming Infinity Music was to bring together the talents of the best people we could find in several related creative fields," said Stephen Wrench, CEO of Infinity Music Corp. "We already had what we consider to be some of the industry's best people in the fields of recording, music production, songwriting and artist management. We were looking for a partner to join us in producing music videos and media services. After looking extensively for the right company, we found it in Birmingham with Media Works."

Jonathan Barbee, 25, founded Media Works and has grown the company to become a leader in Birmingham broadcast production, with active involvement in the production of music videos, corporate video, television programming and political advertisements.

"I've always had the goal of expanding Media Works to become far more than just a local production company," Barbee said. "The chance to join Infinity Music is the opportunity I've been looking for, and it's something that can help put Birmingham on the map in the entertainment industry. For instance, we just finished a music video in Shelby County for a country music artist and it will soon be running on a national video music channel. It's satisfying to me personally to see something on national TV and know that people are seeing something local. That kind of exposure wouldn't be possible without this merger."

Financial terms of the merger were not released. Media Works will keep its name and operate as a unit of Infinity Music Corp. Since the merger, Media Works has opened offices in Nashville and St. Augustine, Fla., which is the corporate home of Infinity Music. Barbee has joined the Infinity Music Corp. board of directors as the C.O.O., and he will remain president of Media Works.

"I'm very impressed with what this company has accomplished so far and with its vision for the future, but I'm even more impressed with the people involved," Barbee said. "They are not only people who are heavy hitters in the financial and entertainment industries, but they are also people of absolute integrity. The fact that I could see their deep commitment to some of the same Christian principles that I believe in led me to believe that their ethics and values would be similar to mine. As I've worked with them over the past few months on video projects and in discussing this merger, I've learned to appreciate their qualities as ethical people in addition to their artistic and business vision. Infinity Music Corp. is a St. Augustine, Fla.-based company which was formed through a series of mergers between companies in different areas of entertainment, including record labels, a recording studio, concert management and a broadcast production company. Its subsidiaries are Retrophonics West Recording Studio; Media Works Communications, a broadcast services company; Infinity Records Nashville; Lou-Do Music, a concert production and artist management company; and Jeshaiah Records, a Christian music label.
